Clam Cake Love! The History and Mystery of a Local Seafood Treat with Carolyn Wyman

Clam Cake Love! The History and Mystery of a Local Seafood Treat with Carolyn Wyman In-Person

Why are clam-flavored doughnut holes beloved in Southern New England and almost nowhere else on the planet? Clam cakes' history holds the key to this mystery. The Great Clam Cake and Fritter Guide author Carolyn Wyman will explain in a 45-minute illustrated presentation based on her clam cake history, cookbook and travel guidebook at the North Kingstown Free Library where she did some of her research. Wyman will also talk about the stories behind South County clam cake destinations like Aunt Carrie's, George's and Cap'n Jack's. A book signing will follow the talk. Books will be available for purchase for $21.95.

Carolyn Wyman is the Rhode Island native author of seven previous food books, including ones about SPAM, chocolate chip cookies and cheesesteaks -- the favorite fatty food in her current hometown of Philadelphia. But she was weaned on clam cakes and stuffies and still has Del's and coffee milk running through her veins.
