Wickford and the Arts: The Story Behind Wickford’s 130 Year Connection to the Arts In-Person
Most folks, when they hear the name Wickford, immediately think of two things, and appropriately so; history and art. You see, “Ye Olde Historic Wickford” through its association with the long-standing and dynamic Wickford Art Festival, has a strong and stellar reputation as a community that cares deeply about art and artists. What most don’t realize though is that the village’s connections to the arts run much deeper than its association with the festival. Indeed those connections wander back to the 1870’s and ’80s and have much more to do with trains, steam ferries, and grand summer hotels than a 20th & 21st-century reoccurring weekend in July. Join Tim Cranston while he delves into the roots of Wickford’s artistic history.
