Anti-Racism Discussion Group

Anti-Racism Discussion Group In-Person

If you are looking to begin, or further, your understanding of racism in an effort to grow towards anti-racism, we are calling out to you. Join Community Outreach Coordinator, Emily, in monthly book discussions to educate yourself and hold one another accountable to be better allies to the Black community.  We will begin with reccommended titles that can be found on Hoopla in order to allow access to materials while the library is operating at limited capacity.

Our first meeting will be on Monday, June 29th at 8pm via Zoom and will discuss the title Me and White Supremecy by Layla F Saad. The title is available on Hoopla as an ebook and an e-audiobook. Contact us if you need help accessing the title.

If you would prefer to purchase a copy, please consider purchasing from a black-owned independent bookstore

As this is a virtual program, it is open to participants throughout Rhode Island and beyond. This group is explicitly for people looking to discuss issues with their peers and to be held accountable; while we will seek to be a safe space for dialogue to that end, we will not tolerate hate speech or participants who act counter to the purposes of this mission.
